Lamaze and ICEA 50th Anniversary Mega Childbirth Education Conference
Attended by Cheryl with the other Mission Childbirth Ed. staff
Thurs. Sep. 30 - Sun. Oct. 3, 2010
The information learned was incredibly valuable and up to date. Cheryl will be passing on all pertinent information to our doula partners for many months to come so we can update our doula practices. Cheryl learned a lot of new, evidence based information about how to have a safe and normal labor and birth and new information about newborns and breastfeeding along with her wonderful Mission Hospital co-workers.
DONA Members Day
Friday, August 20, 2010
Cheryl is the DONA state Rep. for NC and TN and on Aug. 20 she coordinated and presented at a DONA Members and Advanced Doula Training Day held at the Mission Wellness Resource Center in Asheville, NC. There were 19 women in attendance from NC, TN and GA. It was a wonderful day for doulas to network with each other, learn new information and methods and earn 5 continuing education credits for a very small fee to cover food and the space rental. The photos below were taken on that day by participants.
Mid March 2010
Penny Simkin and Ann Keppler, co-author's of Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn and The Simple Guide to Having a Baby presented at MAHEC. Kelley attended the conference while Cheryl was at Mission Hospital providing doula support for a client.

All DONA International certified doulas are required to have 15 hours of continuing education every 3 years to re-certify. Our primary Peaceful Beginning doulas, Kelley, Cheryl and Tracie go beyond that requirement and consistently attend continuing education seminars and trainings obtaining 50% more credit hours than is required by their professional organizations DONA and ICEA. Which are the certifying organization for Kelley and Cheryl's childbirth education certification.
