Friday-           2pm-8:30pm
Saturday-
     9am-6:30pm
Sunday-
   9am- 4:45pm

Location: Full Bloom Pregnancy and Early Parenting Center, in Athens Georgia www.fullbloomparent.com .  Full Bloom is a beautiful center in the heart of lovely and
vibrant Athens Georgia.   The coordinator of the training is Full Bloom founder and owner, Pat Nielsen, 706-353-3373.

Content:  The training includes discussion and practice in order to prepare participants to begin their doula business.  Discussion centers around holistic, evidence based
information to enable the doula to make the birth experience easier and more joyous for her clients.  Practice includes optimal fetal positioning and intensive labor support
techniques designed to become doula skills.   The course also emphasizes the importance of appropriate, culturally sensitive support.  Participants will learn how to
assist women and their partners cope with complications in pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum should they occur, as well as how to avoid unnecessary medical
interventions including cesarean birth and how to begin their doula practice.

Completion of the entire training is mandatory to receive full credit and the DONA birth doula training certificate.  The training provides 18 contact hours and includes:
how to obtain clients, how to start a doula practice and how to market your doula business.  The extra hours each day are for meal breaks, snack breaks and movement
breaks which are needed because of the intense nature and ammount of information provided during the weekend.  It will be a weekend you will not forget!

Pre-requisites: This workshop assumes a basic knowledge of pregnancy and childbirth; it is not an introductory level training.  DONA requires attendance of a childbirth
education class series or a childbirth education workshop (non-pregnant or for the sole purpose of preparing for the doula training) to become certified which is ideal
preparation for the doula training.  Childbirth Educators, nurses with labor and delivery experience and midwives or midwifery students have the appropriate experience
and do not have to complete a childbirth class series for certification.  You may look at the DONA list of approved childbirth education programs (see DONA link below)
to see if your childbirth education qualifies for DONA certification. Contact me for questions about training prequisites.

I will offer an Intro to Childbirth Education one day class to fulfill this requirement on Thursday, Nov. 13th from 9am - 5:30pm.  The charge is $50 for the day (early bird
fee).   (See pink box below)

DONA also requires a 3 hour Breastfeeding Training by a certifed lactation consultant.  We are trying to coordinate a breastfeeding course to be taught by a lactation
consultant for the Athens Ga. training-- day and time TBA.

Requirements for DONA Certification: The DONA website covers all of the requirements for certification, go to:  http://www.dona.org/develop/birth_cert.php

Registration & Fees:   Temporary registration is available below. The Athen's early bird training fee is $250, after October 14 it will be $300.  The training includes
continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, ample snacks and a beautiful training location.  It will be an experience you will not forget!  A 185 page resource notebook,
18 contact hours and a certificate of completion from DONA International are also included in the cost.  Register here as soon as possible.   Please indicate that you would
like to take the the Breastfeeding class and/or the Intro. class when registering.   Please register soon, my trainings fill quickly!
